Seagate hard drive and 44 pins?
My hard drive has recently crashed and i was sent a new one. Someone had suggested that i could try to get some data off of my old one using cables and a usb thing. I got a kit but the adapter for the kit needs to be plugged into a 44 pin thing. I have a seagate momentus 5400.3. Am i missing something, or does this not have 44 pins? Also, are there any adapters to adapt that type of hard drive to a 44 pin? Thanks
Sounds like you have a laptop harddrive that you’re trying to hook up, and the adapter is for a desktop harddrive. 34 pins on a 2 and half inch wide,(2.5″), laptop HD. 40 pins on a 3 and a half inch wide,(3.5″), desktop HD. The other 4 pins are for power on a desktop HD. Yes, there are adapters. It would be easier to have bought an external enclosure for a 2.5″ laptop. It uses a USB cable to connect to the computer.
